'His eyes grew bigger' - Former Forest defender reacts to Ola Aina's costly miss against Leeds
Former Nottingham Forest defender Brian Laws has rued Ola Aina's missed opportunity during Nottingham Forest's 2-0 defeat to Leeds United in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
The Super Eagles defender had a chance to put Nottingham Forest ahead in the opening half after finding himself in a promising position inside the box.
Despite having enough time to make a decision, Aina took a touch before attempting a volley, but his effort sailed over the crossbar.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Laws described the opportunity as a good chance for the Nigerian defender.
"That was a great chance there, both wing-backs are so high up. Aina hoped that he could get his body over the ball and keep it low," he said.
"I think he saw the goal and his eyes grew bigger, it just blazed over the bar. Half a chance."
The Super Eagles star has endured a slow start to the campaign, with Nottingham Forest still searching for their first victory under manager Olivier Glasner.
Aina started Forest's opening Premier League fixture against Leeds United before being replaced by Luca Netz in the second half.
The Nigeria international will now be keen to rediscover his best form as the season progresses and help Nottingham Forest turn their fortunes around.
