Leeds United booked their place in the Carabao Cup third round with a convincing 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.
Second half goals from Daniel James and James Justin handed the Whites a second City Ground victory in just four days, both with a clean sheet. The win means Leeds are into the Carabao Cup third round for the first time under Daniel Farke.
They will have a keen eye on their third round opponents and ahead of that draw, here is all you need to know...

The Carabao Cup third round draw will take place this evening, Wednesday August 26. It is scheduled to begin after the conclusion of the final second round clash between Preston and Everton.

That game kicks off at 8pm which means unless there is a penalty shootout, it will finish around 10pm. Spot-kicks could lead to an even later third round draw.
How to watch the Carabao Cup third round draw
Everton’s trip to Deepdale has been selected for live broadcast by Sky Sports and the draw will follow on the same channels. It will be on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football.
Sky Sports subscribers will also be able to watch the draw via the Sky Sports website or app if they are on the go.
How does the third round draw work?
Interestingly, there will also be a pre-draw process before kick-off at Deepdale involving the eight Premier League teams competing in Europe. They enter the competition at this stage but to ensure there are no clashes with continental football, they cannot face each other.
The pre-draw will decide which of those eight European teams are drawn home or away. After full-time at Preston, they will then be drawn against eight opponents not competing in Europe before the remainder of the draw. From round three onwards, there is no regionalisation.
When will the Carabao Cup third round take place?
Third round ties will take place across two consecutive midweeks. The first batch will be played during the week commencing September 7 and the second group from September 14. Again, this is due to European competition around the same time.
For Leeds, that means their third round tie will either take place between Brighton away and Newcastle United at home, or Newcastle at home and Crystal Palace at home. There is another key point to remember for the Whites.
If Leeds are drawn against a Champions League club this evening, their Premier League meeting with Newcastle which is currently scheduled for Monday September 14 will be brought forward to Saturday September 12, at 12.30pm. The same will be true if the Magpies progress and are drawn against Champions League opposition.
