Nottingham Forest have sanctioned a loan exit for Eric da Silva Moreira as part of a long-term plan to get him into their first team. The 20-year-old full-back-come-winger will spend a year with Excelsior Rotterdam in the Dutch top flight.
Germany youth international Da Silva Moreira joined Forest from St Pauli in 2024 having grown up in Hamburg. He spent the first half of last term on loan at Rio Ave in Portugal but returned in January due to a lack of game time.
Forest said in a statement: "(Da Silva Moreira) has enjoyed a blend of first team and B Team opportunities since arriving on Trentside, and was part of Oliver Glasner’s squad throughout this summer’s pre-season schedule. Everyone at Nottingham Forest wishes Eric the very best for the year ahead."
Excelsior finished 13th in the Eredivisie last season, having won promotion the previous season. They started this campaign with a 4-0 win over Cambuur before losing 2-1 to PSV Eindhoven on Saturday.

Da Silva Moreira could make his debut at home against Sparta Rotterdam on Saturday and will hope to return to the City Ground next summer with enough experience to propel him into first team contention.
Forest, in turn, are expected to sign a right-back before the transfer window closes next Tuesday night. They have been linked with Javi Rueda, from Celta Vigo.
Fellow young Forest defender Zach Abbott has been linked with a loan move to Preston North End while Tyler Bindon has been linked with a loan to Watford.
