Leeds United’s Premier League rivals Sunderland appear to be eyeing a Whites-linked winger
Sunderland are reportedly attempting to sign Igor Paixao, who was linked with Leeds United earlier in the transfer window.
The winger was a target for Leeds in the last summer window, when he was still on the books of Dutch outfit Feyenoord.
He had been a free-scoring sensation in the Eredivisie and Leeds wanted to get him on board for their return to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old instead moved to Marseille and Leeds went on to recruit Noah Okafor from AC Milan.

Sunderland linked with Igor Paixao
Earlier this summer, it was indicated by our sister title the Yorkshire Evening Post that Paixao was among the options being looked at by the Whites.
According to Sky Sports, the fleet-footed Brazilian is now in the sights of their Premier League rivals Sunderland.
The Black Cats are said to have followed up on firm interest with a bid for the wideman and talks are thought to be taking place.

He would arguably be an exciting coup for the Premier League club, who supposedly view the signing of a winger as a priority. Marseille, meanwhile, are reportedly looking to raise funds.
Paixao has made 43 appearances since joining Marseille, weighing in with 12 goals and eight assists across all competitions.
Leeds United’s wide options
Leeds also appear to be on the winger hunt as they hold an interest in Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk, although the Whites are not confident a deal can be done.

It remains to be seen whether will they explore alternative options or settle for the wide options currently at Daniel Farke’s disposal.
Daniel James staked a claim for more minutes last night (August 25), delivering an energetic display and scoring in Leeds’ 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest. He faces competition from the likes of Noah Okafor, Harry Wilson, Brenden Aaronson and Wilfried Gnonto.
