Everton have held fresh talks over a move for Midtjylland striker Franculino as David Moyes looks to add to his squad before the transfer deadline.
The 22-year-old has been on Everton’s radar for some time and has been extensively scouted by the club.
TEAMtalk now reports that talks have taken place with the player’s representatives, with Franculino open to playing in the Premier League.
A fee of around €25million (£21.4m) could be enough to sign the Guinea-Bissau international, although Newcastle United are also interested.
Franculino has scored 58 goals in 115 appearances for Midtjylland.
Everton could make four late signings
Everton’s interest comes with Beto’s future uncertain.
The Blues are anticipating interest in the Portuguese striker before the window closes but would not allow him to leave without having a replacement lined up.
Franculino is one of the options being considered, while Burnley’s Zian Flemming and former Everton forward Richarlison have also been linked.
There could be work to do elsewhere.
TEAMtalk reports that Everton could still strengthen at right-back, left-back and centre-back as well as up front.
Right-back has been a priority throughout the summer, while Nice defender Melvin Bard has been considered as competition for Vitaliy Mykolenko on the opposite side.
Another centre-back could also be required if Jake O’Brien leaves, with Everton prepared to listen to offers for the Republic of Ireland international.
Four arrivals in the closing days would represent a considerable amount of business.
For now, the firmer development is that Franculino is back on Everton’s agenda, with fresh talks having taken place over a possible move.
