**New vice-chairman and minority stakeholder Amit Bhatia is set to attend Liverpool’s second game of the Premier League season against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.**
Liverpool were lucky to escape defeat at St. James’ Park against Newcastle United on Sunday as the Reds kicked off the 2026/27 season in disappointing fashion. Dominik Szoboszlai’s 98th-minute equaliser from the penalty spot felt like a lucky break, but it has inspired much frustration in terms of the club’s rudderless transfer approach this summer.
Liverpool are yet to address major concerns that were well known long before the summer transfer window began, namely signing a Mohamed Salah replacement, a new left winger, a defensive midfielder and a right back.
Talks are ongoing between Liverpool and PSG for the transfer of Bradley Barcola, but they are no closer to signing him than they were two weeks ago, with the Premier League transfer window set to slam shut on Tuesday at 11 pm.

Liverpool fans have been left feeling perplexed by the nature of the 2026 summer transfer window.
While talks are ongoing for a mega deal between PSG and Liverpool for Bradley Barcola, it’s the only indication that they are showing any ambition this summer.
Despite the window closing on Tuesday next week, Liverpool are no closer to achieving the transfer targets they should be hitting at this stage of the window.
I wonder if the deal in place between FSG and the consortium has in some way influenced the way the club has operated in the summer window. I’m not sure why it would be the case, but it wouldn’t surprise me to learn something along these lines over the next few months.
