Leeds United defender Joe Rodon had warm words for a teammate after the Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest
Joe Rodon saluted his Leeds United teammate Daniel James after the winger’s impressive showing against Nottingham Forest.
James was a nuisance for defenders in the 2-0 victory last night (August 25), which secured Leeds’ place in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
The 28-year-old has seen competition for places intensified by summer transfer business, but staked a claim for Premier League minutes with a lively display.

Rodon, who also plays with James at international level for Wales, told ITV: “We all know what he's capable of. I'm over the moon for him tonight, and he showed his quality, and it was a great finish.
“We need everyone. You know, we’ve got a very good squad, and it's a long season, so the unity in the squad is unbelievable, and that's why we need everyone together.”

New signings settling in well
Leeds’ back-to-back meetings with Forest - from which they have emerged with two wins under their belts - have showcased the club’s new recruits.
James Trafford, Tarik Muharemović, Nico Elvedi and Harry Wilson have all made their Whites debuts, showing plenty of promise early on.
Rodon said: “We want to change the mentality. We want to grow again as a group, and we want to go into every game trying to win.

“The new signings have been top, they've gelled in really well. We want to continue this momentum and go to next weekend.”
Leeds will be back in Premier League action on Sunday (August 30), hosting Brentford for a 2pm showdown at Elland Road.
Elvedi will be hoping to make his league debut but Jaka Bijol will be hoping for a recall having watched the cup victory over Forest from the bench.
