Coventry City have signed centre-back Ethan Pinnock from Brentford.
COVENTRY City have completed the signing of experienced centre-back Ethan Pinnock from Brentford in a £6million deal.
The Sky Blues will pay an initial fee of £5m plus £1m in add-ons for Pinnock who has signed a three-year deal with the club.
The 33-year-old has made more than 200 appearances for the Bees during a seven-season spell.
Pinnock said: “I’m really excited to join Coventry City and continue my footballing journey with this great club.
“After 25 years, the club are back in the Premier League, and I know how much it must mean to everyone involved with the club and the supporters.
“I can’t wait to be part of it.
“I’m really looking forward to getting to work and I can’t wait to meet everyone and represent this football club, especially at the Coventry Building Society Arena.”
The 28-cap Jamaica international helped Brentford achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2020/21.
He became a mainstay in the Bees backline over the club’s first four seasons in the top-flight and played a key role in establishing Brentford as a Premier League club.
Pinnock made just four Premier League appearances for the club last season and featured eight times in all competitions.
The defender came through the ranks at Dulwich Hamlet in non-league before to Forest Green Rovers and then Barnsley.
He joins former teammate Frank Onyeka in making the switch from Brentford to Coventry this summer.
Coventry moved for Pinnock in favour of a loan deal for Manchester City defender Stephen Mfuni.
The Sky Blues reportedly agreed a loan deal for Mfuni but opted to move for Pinnock owing to the latter’s substantial Premier League experience.
