Georginio Rutter's absence from Brighton training explained ahead of Tromso and Chelsea

Brighton striker Georginio was a notable absentee from an open training session ahead of tomorrow's Conference League play-off against Tromso.

Georginio played the full 90 minutes of Albion's 4-0 Premier League win against Aston Villa last Sunday but was seen leaving the stadium in a protective boot.

It was described as a "precaution" but the fact he wasn't spotted on Wednesday morning is cause for concern. Ferdi Kadioglu, who missed the Villa match with a “minor issue”, was in training and should ne available to face Tromso.

Brighton drew 0-0 in the first leg of the play-off in Norway and will hope to finish the job at the Amex Stadium on Thursday.

The winners will advance to the league stages of Europe's third tier competition.

Georginio has a small issue

Hurzeler, speaking in the pre-Tromso press conference, said: "Rutter, we will have to see. He has an issue, not a big issue, but we have to wait and see.

“No new injury concerns. The other injuries are all known and hope we can perform at the highest level.” Kaoru Mitoma (hamstring) and Yankuba Minteh (leg) remain sidelined.

Georginio's absence could see Greek striker Charalampos Kostoulas get his chance to shine.

New summer signing Promise Davd is ineligible to face Tromso as the Canadian international striker played for Union SG in a Uefa qualifier earlier this season before joining Brighton last week.

David, who was an unused substitute against Aston Villa, will be available for the Conference League stage, should Brighton advance.
