Sunderland are understood to be pursing a deal for Manchester City winger Jack Grealish.
Sunderland have launched a bid to sign Manchester City winger Jack Grealish, senior club sources have confirmed.
As first reported by transfer insider David Ornstein, the Black Cats have approached their Premier League counterparts with a loan offer for the 30-year-old, with view to potentially making any stay on Wearside permanent upon the expiration of his contract at the Etihad next summer. The Echo have been told that Ornstein’s claims are indeed accurate.
The Athletic journalist also states that Sunderland are willing to partially cover Grealish’s salary in an effort to enact a move to the Stadium of Light. It is also understood that the Black Cats’ interest in the England international is in parallel with their ongoing efforts to sign fellow winger Igor Paxaio from Marseille, with a deal for the Brazilian heavily touted over the course of Wednesday.
For his part, Grealish signed for Man City from boyhood club Aston Villa for a then-British record fee of £100 million back in 2021. Since then, he has 159 appearances for the Blues, scoring 17 goals and assisting 23 more, while also lifting three Premier League titles and a Champions League. The wide man, who generally operates on the left, has featured in both of City’s competitive outings so far this term as well.

Last season, with his game time in Manchester limited, Grealish signed for Everton on loan, registering two goals and six assists across 22 outings before his campaign was curtailed by injury. At the time of writing, Grealish has amassed 39 senior caps for England too.
