Crystal Palace have turned down Liverpool’s approach for winger Ismaila Sarr, as another wide target is added to the Reds’ long list.
Palace reject Liverpool’s bid for Ismaila Sarr
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Palace have instantly rejected Liverpool’s advances for Sarr, who has scored seven times against them in the past.
A £50 million offer is said to have been on the table, but the Eagles aren’t budging yet, with a more sizeable bid now required.
The Sarr news goes hand-in-hand with Liverpool’s rumoured interest in Brighton‘s Yankuba Minteh, with the Reds now withdrawing from bidding for him.

That’s because the Seagulls are demanding £80 million for his signature, which seems steep, to say the least!
The longer the summer has gone on, the more head-scratching Liverpool’s approach to signing a right-sided attacker has been.
In Sarr, Minteh, Yan Diomande and Ibrahim Mbaye, the Reds have had four very different targets stylistically, and it feels like panic is creeping in.
We’ve no idea who the favourite is to come in!

• Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is now reportedly seen as the “top” midfield target for Liverpool. Is he the No. 6 the Reds crave?
• Monaco are searching for new midfielders in case they lose Liverpool ‘target’ Lamine Camara before September 1. He’s exactly what the Reds need – no offence to Scott!
• It is claimed that Liverpool are exploring alternative options to Minteh, Sarr presumably being one, as they look for a second winger in addition to Bradley Barcola
• Amit Bhatia, Liverpool’s new vice-chairman, is set to attend Saturday’s Premier League clash at home to Nottingham Forest
More from This Is Anfield
This Is Anfield‘s season previews continue, with Brighton, Leeds, Fulham and Brentford under the spotlight today. Confidence at Elland Road is high:
“Trafford coming in could be a game-changer based on our recent history of goalkeepers, but I feel we need reinforcements in certain areas, particularly a No.9 and cover at full-back.
“Having a quality bench that can come on and impact games is key in the Premier League, and if we can upgrade this before the close of the transfer window, we will pick up more points.”

On this day in 2006, Daniel Agger scored a screamer in front of the Kop as Liverpool won 2-1 at home to West Ham in the Premier League.
The Reds fell behind to a freak Bobby Zamora goal, but Agger’s swerving 30-yard strike levelled things up.
Peter Crouch gave Liverpool the lead before half-time and Rafa Benitez‘s side held on to secure an important three points.
It was a day that also saw Dirk Kuyt make his debut, during a season in which the Reds ended up losing 2-1 to AC Milan in the 2007 Champions League final.
