Tijjani Reijnders moved to Manchester City from AC Milan just a year ago, but the midfielder was back on the market after only one season with the Premier League club. Juventus wanted to take advantage of the situation and add him to their squad, with the Bianconeri among several top European teams interested in signing him.
Reijnders was keen to remain in Europe, and at one stage it appeared that he would move to Atletico Madrid during this transfer window. However, the midfielder did not complete a move to the Spanish side, leaving his future uncertain as Manchester City continued to look for a new home for him.
Juventus Entered the Race for Reijnders
None of the top European clubs showed enough serious interest to complete a permanent deal, and Reijnders now plays for Al Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League. He is one of at least two Dutchmen to have left England for the Pro League during this transfer window.
His father, Martin, has now revealed that Juventus were among the clubs in the running for his signature. The Bianconeri were interested in bringing the midfielder to Turin, but their proposal did not meet the requirements for a permanent transfer.

Reijnders Chose Saudi Pro League Move
Martin Reijnders explained the situation via Calciomercato, saying: “We were waiting for Atletico Madrid; they were very interested, but in the end they backed out due to financial issues. Juventus and Galatasaray were also interested, but they were only interested in a loan. We turned down Al Qadsiah the first two times, then they came back a third time, and we understood that they wanted to become the biggest club in all of Asia.”
The comments provide further insight into why Reijnders ultimately moved to Saudi Arabia after failing to secure a return to another European club. Atletico had shown strong interest, but financial issues prevented the transfer from happening.
Juventus and Galatasaray were also options, but their interest was limited to a loan deal. After Al Qadsiah returned with a third offer, Reijnders and his representatives decided to accept the proposal, bringing an end to his brief spell at Manchester City and his hopes of remaining in Europe.
