Jack Grealish looks on during the Community Shield

Grealish joined City in 2021 but faces an uncertain future
He is in the final year of his City contract, meaning Grealish would effectively be saying goodbye to the club should he secure a loan switch this summer.
Grealish has featured twice this season for City, coming on in the second half in the Community Shield against Arsenal as well as in the club's Premier League opener against Bournemouth.
Prior to the season starting, Grealish was given the No. 18 shirt at City in a sign he may have a future at the club.
He had previously worn No. 10, but that number now belongs to Rayan Cherki.
Jack Grealish's tricky spell
Grealish spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan with Everton and began brightly, registering four assists in his first three league appearances for the Toffees.
However, his time on Merseyside was brought to an early end when he was forced to undergo surgery on a stress fracture in his foot.
In total, Grealish registered two goals and six assists in 22 appearances for the Toffees.
Return to boyhood club?
The other club in contention to sign Grealish on a temporary basis is the team he left to join City for in Villa.

Grealish first joined Villa's academy at the age of six and broke into the first team as an 18-year-old in 2013.
The 30-year-old became a regular fixture in their starting XI from the 2014/15 season, playing a key role in their run to the FA Cup final.

Grealish grew up as a Villa fan and came through the ranks at the club to captain them
The following campaign was a disaster for Villa as they were relegated from the top flight, finishing bottom of the league.
It took three years of Championship football before the Villans bounced back to the Premier League, but Grealish stuck by them throughout - although he nearly joined Tottenham in 2018.
After three years of starring for Villa and establishing himself in the England squad, the bigger clubs came calling for Grealish.
Having been linked with moves to Manchester United, Grealish opted to join City in the summer of 2021 for £100million which was then a record transfer for a British player.
Grealish has won a plethora of trophies in his six years at City, including a Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble in the 2022/23 season.
However, he often found himself out of the first team, leading to a loan spell at Everton last term.
