Albion have been handed another tough cup draw away from home.

The Seagulls will visit Manchester United in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

United are one of eight teams who were seeded because of their involvement in either the Champions or Europa League.

Albion were drawn away to Arsenal, United and Liverpool in the two domestic cups last season.

Before that, they were sent to Oxford and Barnsley, making this their sixth successive away draw since playing at home to Nottingham Forest in the quarter-finals of the 2024-25 FA Cup.

A midweek trip to Old Trafford is likely to attract minimal excitement among Albion fans, who will await news of scheduling and ticket prices with interest.

Champions League commitments mean the game must take place in the week commending September 14.

With Albion visiting Coventry on September 13, that would appear to mean a Wednesday night at Old Trafford for the Seagulls.

The tie comes just ahead of the home date with Arsenal in a Premier League fixture which is being dedicated to celebration of the club’s 125th anniversary.

Elsewhere in the draw, Liverpool will face Tottenham in a tie which could see Andrew Robertson make a quick return to Anfield following his summer move to Spurs.
