‘Will push’ - Newcastle United release exciting transfer statement 96 hours before window closes

Newcastle United are not done yet in the transfer market despite welcoming Nico Gonzalez from Manchester City for £50million.

Matthias Jaissle has vowed to push the Newcastle United hierarchy for more signings before the transfer window closes.

The ink on Nico Gonzalez’s contract has not yet dried but the Toon boss is demanding more fresh faces before Tuesday’s deadline. A raucous St James’ Park crowd greeted the Spaniard just moments after his £50million move became official.

As reported by The Gazette this week, Newcastle are not done yet. It is understood that the Magpies want to add a forward to their ranks to give Jaissle the tools needed for a successful season.

Matthias Jaissle’s blunt transfer response

Jaissle - while not saying much - gave enough away to suggest that he wants more incomings before the Tuesday 11pm deadline. “Yes (whether he wants more signings). I push every day. This (which position) is something I will not tell you.”

‘Entertaining’ - Matthias Jaissle

The German also believes Newcastle fans received value for money with another high-scoring thriller at St James’ Park. Jaissle added: “It's always the most important thing in a cup round that you take the result. That's what we did against a strong opponent. I was just having a chat with the gaffer. They're doing really well, I think they will play a great role in the Championship.

“But we also responded well with all the rotations. It was important that we saw character on the pitch. Also, after the second equaliser, we stepped back… straight away we scored.

“That helped us. Like I said, we're happy. (It was an) entertaining match for the fans. I think I would have less headache if we were not conceding the penalties at the moment.”
