The Magpies have made it into the third round of the Carabao Cup as Matthias Jaissle's team ethic begins to shine through

Newcastle United boss Matthias Jaissle meant it when he stated he wanted to create a synergy at St James' Park.
In less than a month Jaissle has made it clear that everybody has a role at the club as looks to take Newcastle to new levels, and Chronicle Live understands that has been evident around the training ground and stadium.
Jaissle is not believed to have his own special table with his staff during meal times at the canteen at the KNOX and has "worked the room" during refuelling times. And as he left the pitch after acknowledging supporters following the 3-2 win over West Brom, he congratulated his players, but the last person he thanked as he headed to the dressing room was one of the groundsmen, underlining the group ethic he is trying to instil at St James'.
However, Jaissle is also making a strong impact with opposing managers too and took a generous amount of time to speak to West Brom boss James Morrison, two years older than the German head coach, after the five-goal Carabao Cup thriller.
Jaissle said: "I had a chat with the gaffer (James Morrison). They’re doing really well, I think they will play a great role in the Championship. I'll be following their progress and I told him that."
However, one of the main themes to emerge from the victory over the Baggies was that team ethic Jaissle has worked hard to drum into his players since being appointed.
He said: "It was important we saw character on the pitch, also after the second equaliser we stepped back and straight away we scored, that helped us of course. We are happy, an entertaining match for the fans."
Newcastle boss braced for 'crazy' night in round three
There was a buzz in the Press room as the Carabao Cup third round draw was made, and reporters speculated about the prospect of a difficult challenge in the next stage.
But nobody could quite have predicted a trip to Millwall as Newcastle looked to visit the New Den for the very first time next month. The Magpies' last visit to Millwall was in the old First Division when Kevin Keegan's side won 2-1 thanks to goals from Lee Clark and Andy Cole at Cold Blow Lane.
Ahead of the trip to South Bermondsey, Jaissle told Chronicle Live after the win over the Baggies: "I heard in the back office that it will be a crazy game. We can't influence the draw.
"We'll take it as it is and do our best with it."
Harvey Barnes' impressive tally
The Toon forward came off the bench to score twice and secure a passage into round three against his old club last night and showed why sporting director Ross Wilson was keen to give him a new contract.
Barnes now has 32 goals in a Newcastle shirt, not a bad tally at all considering he has started just 63 games in all competitions. Jaissle though made it clear he won't just be judged on goals and said: "It’s not only goals (that he contributes). As we saw also against Liverpool he was doing a really great job, not only in possession, also out of possession.
“He is disciplined, especially also with the combination with (Lewis) Hall. We’re really pleased, I thanked him after the match, it was important that he scored.”
