Transfer guru Graeme Bailey, from TEAMtalk, is reporting the Blues have ‘held talks’ with the 32-year-old over a potential late-window move to Fratton Park.
But Pompey aren’t the only ones supposedly interested in the free agent.
It’s claimed competition exits from the Premier League and the Championship, with Southampton, Wrexham, Burnley, West Ham and Watford all believed to be keen.

Crystal Palace, however, remain favourites to land March, who is currently a free agent following his Amex Stadium departure at the end of the season.
TheTEAMtalk report suggests the ex-England youth international has already undergone medical checks at Selhurst Park as the Eagles weigh up a possible swoop.
The wide man was released by Brighton at the conclusion of his deal in May, bringing an end to his career-long affiliation with the Seagulls.
After making his first-team debut in August 2013, March netted 26 goals and collected 31 assists in 300 outings in all competitions for the club. His final campaign at the Amex was hampered by injury, though, with a knee issue restricting him to just four appearances.
The Blues are have already strengthened their wing options this summer, following the £2.5m capture of Abu Kamara from Hull City earlier this month.
His big-money arrival was then followed by the loan signing of 17-year-old Chelsea talent Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, who has penned a season-long agreement at Fratton Park.
Prior to those moves, New Zealand youngster Luke Brooke-Smith made the move to PO4 from Wellington Phoenix in July.
The Blues remain keen on adding to their ranks, with a versatile forward, a central midfielder and a left-back on Mousinho’s wanted list before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
That could change, though, amid uncertainty surrounding the futures of wingers Harvey Blair and Franco Umeh.
Josh Murphy and Keshi Anderson are also currently unavailable for selection because of injury.
