The Magpies aren't done yet as Newcastle United eye one last push in the transfer window and Matthias Jaissle's wish to build HIS team unfolds

Nico Gonzalez is poised to make his Newcastle United debut in Saturday night's clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - but Matthias Jaissle will have to think long and hard over who leads the line.
Denmark international William Osula has already been ruled out of the clash at Spurs with a foot problem, with the former Sheffield United man heading to see a specialist. It leaves Jaissle torn over pushing Yoane Wissa as the leading striker or sticking with Nick Woltemade in attack after he struggled for service and any type of breaks in front of goal against West Bromwich Albion.
Should the £50million arrival from Manchester City be used as one of the two holding midfielders, Jaissle has a host of choices as his partner, with Sean Steur, Lewis Miley, Joe Willock and Jacob Ramsey vying for a slot in the engine room. Gonzalez is ready to play, though, after a couple of appearances in pre-season and a cameo role in the FA Community Shield two weeks ago in Cardiff during a 3-0 loss to Arsenal.
As the transfer window edges closer to a conclusion, it is clear that Osula's injury has put a microscope on Newcastle's lack of senior attacking options if further injuries cut into Jaissle's squad.
The Danish youngster's issue has meant Academy striker Sean Neave remains in and around the squad, but Newcastle have Matias Fernandez-Pardo of Lille on the radar and Stuttgart’s Bilal El Khannouss. Sporting director Ross Wilson remains in dialogue with Fernandez-Pardo and Lille, and things could run right until deadline day, but Newcastle insiders say the club aren't finished in the window after Gonalez's arrival.
After signing the ex-FC Porto star, Wilson made it clear that he wants to fill the gaps in the squad with quality and said: "We believe he brings a range of qualities that will complement our team, and his experience across some of Europe’s top competitions will only be of benefit to Newcastle United."
The acid test in the remainder of the window will be whether Newcastle can find an elite star that can blend in with what they already have. It's expected that Neave will be loaned out and a cash signing in the forward department arrives with Wilson, providing Jaissle everything he has asked for so far.

Just over two weeks ago, Jaissle underlined the need for a midfielder and a right-back, and his board have delivered, and last night in his Press conference, he made it clear that he won't be settling down and accepting what he has. With another £50m expected to be in the coffers, and the appearance of the club's financial chief Simon Capper no coincidence as he carefully shines a light on what Newcastle can and can't do during a backdrop of SCR rules, Jaissle was straight to the point when asked about further signings.
As the club ticked past 10.30pm, he said in businesslike fashion: "I will push every day."
And if the window shuts with another two additions plus the seven other signings Newcastle have made, it will be clear that this is very much a new Newcastle United going into the 2026/27 season.
A glance back at archives from the last few games of last season under Eddie Howe illustrates how tired and down in the dumps the old Toon squad looked. But it was Jaissle's players who looked fully charged, healthy and ready for action as they stepped into the trip to Spurs.
After Tottenham lost heavily at Brentford last Saturday night, the last thing they need is to face Jaissle's side and a refreshed and happy Gonzalez, fired up for his debut.
