Harvey Barnes bagged a brace to fire Newcastle United into the Carabao Cup third round.
Harvey Barnes has joked that Matthias Jaissle is not always as intense as he appears on the touchline.
Newcastle United fans were treated to another high-energy performance on and off the field against West Bromwich Albion. While the players produced a five-goal thriller, an irate Jaissle berated the officials at the full-time whistle after a shirt pull on Anthony Elanga went unpunished.
Throughout the game - which the Magpies won 3-2 courtesy of a Barnes brace - the new Toon boss kicked, headed and shouted for every ball with his side. On arrival, Jaissle made no secret of his all-action personality and Toon fans have witnessed this first-hand in the opening two fixtures.

Harvey Barnes asked ‘nutcase’ question
When asked if Jaissle is as much of a “nutcase” in training, Barnes told The Gazette: “A little bit, but I think that's good. You want that energy in training. You want to push the standards that high and I think he's doing that.
“You see him on the side of the pitch… he's not like that all the time, not when he's around the training ground. He's been really good. You've seen how quickly the lads and everyone's bought into what he wants to do and I think that's really important.”

Similarities with Eddie Howe?
Jaissle was also asked to outline the differences between Jaissle and Eddie Howe. He added: “There's obviously differences and there's some similarities as well. We want to press. These are all things that we've done before, but there's obviously tweaks, so every manager is different.
“There's a real energy from him and real high demands, which the players know, if you're not doing it, you're not going to play.
“He’s ruthless in that sense, which is good. Everyone knows that they've got to be on board and have to be putting in performances week in, week out to play in this team and it's going to set really high standards.”
