Coventry City's Frank Lampard
Manchester City are set to allow one of their young players to leave the club before transfer deadline day, with Stephen Mfuni's move to Coventry City back on, GIVEMESPORT understands.
City have already made a raft of changes under new boss Enzo Maresca this summer, with the Italian putting his own stamp on the squad following Pep Guardiola's departure at the end of the 2025/26 season.
The Citizens just about got the 2026/27 campaign off to a winning start, needing two late goals from Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol to come from behind to beat Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

It may take some time for Maresca's change in methods to get across to the players after nine years with Guardiola at the helm, but Maresca has been keen to ensure he has a squad he wants at his disposal and it is not still a Guardiola squad at the Etihad this season.
Some big-name players have departed, replaced by big-money signings, with Omar Marmoush set to be the next one to go, having agreed a deal with Tottenham for the frontman to follow Savio to north London. But a number of the club's young players have also departed too, and Mfuni is set to be the latest.
The teenage defender had looked set for a loan move to Coventry earlier in the transfer window, before the move appeared to collapse.
However, that deal is now back on, with frank Lampard stepping back in to secure a deal for the teenager.
GMS understands that Mfuni had been in talks with Sheffield United and Swansea after the Sky Blues initially backed away from completing the loan.
Mfuni's season-long loan move to the Coventry Building Society Arena is now back on though.
Mfuni has been on City's books since he was at Under-9 level and is regarded as one of the most highly-rated players in the academy setup. A left-footed defender, he is capable of playing at centre-back or at full-back.
Mfuni has played once for the City first team, getting 45 minutes in the 10-1 mauling of Exeter City in the FA Cup last season.
