Jonathan Nsangou scored a first-half hat-trick as Everton Under-18s beat Reading 5-0 at Finch Farm on Thursday.
Everton made an excellent start to their U18 Premier League Cup campaign, with Nsangou scoring three times before the interval.
Daniel Mrozek and George Finney added the other two goals, while Reading were unable to find a way past the Everton defence.
Nsangou scores three before half-time
Nsangou opened the scoring after 10 minutes and had his second midway through the first half.
The Everton youngster then completed his hat-trick before the break, giving the Blues a three-goal lead at half-time.
Everton added another two after the restart.
Mrozek scored the fourth before Finney rounded off the scoring, completing a comfortable afternoon for the Under-18s.
The clean sheet was another positive from the performance as Everton began the group stage with three points and a healthy goal difference.
For Nsangou, the result was particularly notable after completing his treble within the opening 45 minutes.
Everton’s academy will face further tests in the competition, but five goals, a clean sheet and three points represent a strong start.
Attention now turns back to their league programme as the young Blues look to build on an encouraging afternoon at Finch Farm.
