Matthias Jaissle has stayed coy on giving a timeline on Will Osula’s recent injury setback.
The Dane suffered a knock during the 2-2 draw with Liverpool last weekend. Newcastle United were dealt a crushing blow that threatened to alter the tide of the contest at St James’ Park.
Jaissle handed Osula a huge boost of confidence by naming him as the starting No.9 for the campaign. He repaid that faith immediately to set up Anthony Elanga for a fifth-minute opener.
However, the 23-year-old was unable to shake off a foot injury following a collision with Virgil van Dijk. Osula - who bagged nine goals last season - battled on before being substituted earlier into the second half.

It is understood that Osula will now spend a couple of weeks on the sidelines - handing Yoane Wissa the responsibility to lead the line. Speaking to reporters, Jaissle swerved providing an exact timeline but highlighted how he is “working hard” to return.
“He's now permanently getting the best treatment,” he said. “We have a fantastic medical department, but it's still too early to make a clear prognosis, a clear time frame when he's back, but he's working hard in the rehab like all the others.”

Expanding on the treatment table, Jaissle also shared updates on Joelinton, Dan Burn and Bazoumana Toure. He added: “Joe (Joelinton) and Dan Burn as well, really great spirit I see there every morning. So hopefully they're all back as soon as possible.
“He (Toure) was feeling a bit of pain, one of the first actions, but that should be fine for the weekend. Of course, we didn't want to take any risk, but it should be fine.”
