Daniel Farke will be here shortly to preview the first Elland Road game of the season as Brentford come to town.

Leeds United have got off to a tremendous start to the season with two wins over Nottingham Forest in league and cup. But Brentford have also started well.

Having beaten a revamped Tottenham Hotspur side 3-0 on the opening day, they romped to a 6-1 away League Cup win at Birmingham City in midweek. The Bees are buzzing.

As for Leeds away from the pitch, it seems Michael Zetterer is getting closer to joining from Einthracht Frankfurt with the German club close to lining up his replacement. That would mean Lucas Perri could exit for Torino.

There are just days left until deadline day on Tuesday. Leeds fans are hoping Farke's 'careful optimism' for more arrivals before then will play out as hoped.

Farke's previous comments on transfers

Asked about his hopes last Tuesday, Farke said:

“There was never a transfer window when I got all my wishes and all the plans that I wanted! But I’m carefully optimistic that we'll have a good ending to the window.

"I'm pleased with our signings so far. But we know that there are definitely also a few positions where we can improve and have to improve our squad for a long, long season.

"This is also what our supporters, what the club, what Leeds United, deserves - that we try our best in the last second to give ourselves the best possible squad. "

Deadline day arrives on Tuesday and Leeds still need to plug several holes in the squad. The likelihood is, not all will be.

Michael Zetterer has been lined up as the new number two goalkeeper behind James Trafford which will allow Lucas Perri to be loaned to Torino.

But Leeds also need cover at left-back and at striker while a left winger is also on the wishlist. Time is ticking and Farke will be quizzed about the state of play today.
