Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer is closing in on a permanent move to West Bromwich Albion.
According to The Athletic, Man United have accepted a proposal worth £3 million guaranteed, with the deal potentially rising to £7.6 million through add-ons.
The final value will depend on Collyer and West Brom hitting certain targets, although the majority of the add-ons are understood to be achievable.
The 22-year-old attracted interest from Middlesbrough and Hull City, but he has ultimately chosen The Hawthorns as the next destination in his career.
United have also protected their future interests by retaining a 40 per cent sell-on clause as part of the agreement.
A move to Hull would certainly have been tempting given their Premier League status.
However, Collyer has opted for a different path, prioritising the opportunity to play regularly and accelerate his development.
West Brom are expected to mount a serious promotion push as they bid to return to the Premier League.
Collyer believes he will have a better chance of regular first-team football at The Hawthorns, where he spent the first half of the 2025-26 season on loan.
Unfortunately, he was able to make only 12 appearances due to several injury setbacks.
This transfer deal again highlights the inability of the club to command significant fees for their academy graduates.
Collyer joined United from the Brighton & Hove Albion academy and made his senior debut in the 2024 FA Community Shield.
He went on to make 12 further senior appearances and, remarkably, was even trusted ahead of Casemiro for a brief spell.
