Leeds United’s third round Carabao Cup clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge has now been given a set date with TV details.
Leeds booked their place in the third round of the competition with Tuesday night’s 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest, the Whites then handed yet another away tie at either Chelsea or Luton Town in the following night’s third round draw.
Chelsea then overcame the Hatters with a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge the following night, setting up the home clash against Leeds in the third round which is being played over two different midweek slots.
The third round games are being played the week beginning Monday, September 7 and Monday, September 14 but Leeds were always likely to be placed in the former week due to playing Newcastle United in the Premier League at Elland Road on Monday, September 14.
The full Carabao Cup third round schedule has now been confirmed, United’s clash at Chelsea taking place on Wednesday, September 9 with an an 8pm kick-off for coverage on Sky Sports.
It means Leeds will have two long away days in the space of five days, Daniel Farke’s Whites away at Brighton in their second away game of the Premier League season on Saturday, September 5 in a 3pm start.
After being back on their travels to Stamford Bridge, United will then have four days off before the league visit of Newcastle on the Monday night.
