Manchester United Women have confirmed the signing of winger Monica Jusu Bah from Swedish club Hacken.
United have been looking to sign a left-footed forward since Melvine Malard’s departure to Chelsea.
Malard was United’s joint top scorer in the Women’s Super League last season alongside Jess Park and Elisabeth Terland, with the trio registering six goals apiece.
Bah joins United in a deal worth more than £400,000, becoming the club’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of defender Andrea Medina and goalkeeper Janina Leitzig.
The 23-year-old helped Hacken win last year’s Damallsvenskan — the top division of Swedish women’s football — and the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists.
Bah joined Hacken from Swedish rivals Umea in 2023 and established herself as a key player for the club. She went on to score 25 goals in 95 appearances for them.
The attacker is of Sierra Leone descent but represents Sweden at international level. She has been capped 11 times by the Blågult.
Bah is a direct winger who likes to attack space, making her dangerous in transition. She is also capable of taking on defenders and driving towards goal to shoot or create chances for her teammates.
The Sweden international is delighted to join United and is looking forward to working with head coach Eva Olid.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling to join Manchester United. There is a real togetherness in the group, and you can feel the excitement from everyone for a big season ahead.
“The opportunity to work with Eva Olid is perfect; everybody knows the quality of her coaching and her ability to support players to reach their highest level. I’m ready to keep pushing myself, help the team achieve our ambitions together and create special memories at this incredible club.”
Bah could make her competitive debut for Man United when they face London City Lionesses in their opening league game next Friday.
