Aston Villa have completed the signing of Nicolas Jackson for £47.5 million, rising to £65 million in add-ons.

Jackson will replace Ollie Watkins, who is heading to Al-Hilal in a deal worth around £50 million. The Senegal international was Unai Emery’s first-choice option this summer, having previously worked with the Villa boss at Villarreal.

After a move to Bournemouth fell through in January 2023, Jackson joined Chelsea several months later. Following two seasons at Stamford Bridge, he joined Bayern Munich on loan last term.

He scored eight Bundesliga goals in 23 appearances and 11 goals across 43 appearances in all competitions under Vincent Kompany.

Jackson also enjoyed an impressive scoring record at Chelsea, netting 30 times in 81 appearances - roughly equating to a goal every 200 minutes for the Blues.

"It’s a massive club. I was looking forward to joining here a few years ago, so I am very happy that I am here finally. I am ready to work," Jackson said on Villa TV.

"I have known the coach for a long time, so when he called me to explain the project, I liked it so much. Hopefully, we do amazing things together.

"I fight for the badge and fight for the coach. That’s what I will bring, and some goals as well. I am very excited to join Aston Villa and fight for them. We want to win trophies.

"I knew a few players, Leon [Goretzka], Maatsen and Pau. It’s like to go back to where I was, so I am very happy."
