**Leeds United winger Willy Gnonto is reportedly in talks over a possible move to Fiorentina.**
The Whites are back at Elland Road this weekend against Brentford, looking to build on a strong start to the campaign.
However, the big talking point is what Leeds will do in the final days of the transfer window, both in and out.
Willy Gnonto’s whereabouts were in serious doubt coming into this summer. He was largely a fringe player during the 25/26 season as Daniel Farke made his preferences abundantly clear.
Even with some re-training to operate as a wing-back, opportunities have been hard to come by.
Now, [Gianluca Di Marzio](https://m.gianlucadimarzio.com/calciomercato/fiorentina-gnonto-leeds-trattativa-news-496529) reports that the winger is now in talks over a move to the Serie A with Fiorentina.
It’s claimed that the Florence club have initiated contact with United over the Italian international, looking to strengthen out wide after having Jack Harrison and Manor Solomon on loan last season.
No further details are shared in Di Marzio’s update about the terms of a transfer. Gnonto is contracted at Leeds until the summer of 2028.
There’s a common thought every time Gnonto comes off the bench for Leeds:
“Gnonto played well didn’t he? I hope he gets more game time to prove himself.”
And then he never gets more game time. So, I can see why the club might entertain a decent sale. Farke has made it clear he’d rather do virtually anything else other than start Gnonto in the Premier League.
But I can’t shake the idea that losing Gnonto when he’s still only 22 is a big mistake. The only way this makes real sense is if his sale contributes to signing a striker _and_ a left-winger before Tuesday night.
