Newcastle United have handed a debut to £50million signing Nico Gonzalez for their Premier League clash away to Tottenham Hotspur.

Gonzalez joined the Magpies from Premier League rivals Manchester City on Wednesday evening and head coach Matthias Jaissle has wasted no time in calling the Spaniard into his starting XI.
Jaissle has already shown he is not afraid to turn to a player fresh through the door, having started Amar Dedic against Liverpool last weekend just days after his arrival £30million from Benfica.
“He trained with us and he looks sharp,” Jaissle said at his pre-match press conference on Thursday evening. “He is an option.
“It will take time and I cannot tell you how long it takes, but he's a smart player, he has huge potential and already brings so much quality in the squad. I think he will adapt fast into our system, into our way of playing.”
Gonzalez is one of six changes from the Carabao Cup second round win over West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday, with Lukas Hornicek, Lewis Miley, Anthony Elanga, Harvey Barnes and Yoane Wissa for Ewan Jaouen, Sean Steur, Jacob Ramsey, Jacob Murphy, Bazoumana Toure and Nick Woltemade, who has been linked with a move to Italy.
