The absences of two Sheffield Wednesday players was noted from their 7-2 hammering of Bromley.
Sheffield Wednesday will be without Harry Gray for their upcoming clash at Wycombe Wanderers - while influential defender Max Lowe faces a nervous wait on the serious of a hamstring injury.
The two key Owls players were absent from the squad that routed Bromley 7-2 at Hillsborough on Saturday in a physical clash that saw further players pick up bumps and bruises ahead of the swift turnaround to Adams Park on Tuesday. Gray’s unavailability was somewhat forecast given the knock he took in their home clash with Bradford City last week but Lowe’s came as a surprise after there was no mention of an issue in Henrik Pedersen’s pre-match press conference on Friday.
“Yesterday he got a little bit in his left hamstring, so he couldn't play today,” Pedersen said on the absence of the 29-year-old. Asked on whether there were any indications over whether the injury might prove to be serious, he replied simply: “Let's see in the next days.”
Leeds United loanee Gray took a blow to the head in the Bradford clash and missed out on contention when Wolves came to Hillsborough in midweek. Initial fears over a broken nose were allayed but Pedersen revealed he was the subject of FA concussion protocol. Though seemingly not absolutely clear at this stage, Pedersen suggested they were working on the basis of a two-week sit-out, which would rule him out of the trip to Wycombe but potentially back for next weekend’s clash at Peterborough United.
“He's fine,” he said on Gray. “He's training full, and he does all he can with the restrictions he has, but he's fine.”
“There are rules, I think it's the two weeks, it's the basics, so I think it will be like this... I think we have all seen how much he has grown since the first friendly game in the pre-season, and he's a strong player with a strong mentality. We're looking forward to him back again.”
