Liverpool appear to have finally got their man after striking a deal to bring Bradley Barcola to Anfield from Paris Saint-Germain. The French winger is set to arrive for a fee that comes close to matching the British transfer record, though there remains further work to be done.
Andoni Iraola's side have been slow to get deals done this summer, despite several areas of concern becoming apparent. Not least of which is a genuine successor to Mohamed Salah, while there are still worries over a shortage of defensive cover at Anfield.
Despite this, the bulk of transfer activity surrounding Liverpool remains firmly focused on attacking additions. The ECHO rounds up all the latest whispers from around the club with just under 48 hours remaining before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

Reds revive Fernandez Pardo interest
Liverpool could be poised to cause Newcastle further transfer window heartache, having already snatched Victor Munoz from under their noses. The Reds are now being tipped to secure a deal for Lille forward Matias Fernandez Pardo, who is reportedly valued at around £60million.
Iraola's side have already been linked with the Belgian throughout the summer, so this is far from unexpected, unlike the Munoz situation. However, it could deal another late blow to Newcastle's plans should Liverpool once again beat them to a coveted target.
TEAMtalk has reported the Reds have already opened talks with Lille over a late offer for their prized asset. This follows The Telegraph's report that Newcastle were stepping up their own efforts to land the youngster.
Fernandez-Pardo has predominantly featured as a striker for Lille and would likely serve as understudy to Alexander Isak. That said, he is also comfortable operating from either wing.
The 21-year-old would offer a comparable profile to Cody Gakpo and could be seen as a potential successor should the Dutchman depart. He remains subject to interest from Manchester City and Tottenham as the transfer window enters its closing stages.

Costly as Barcola's acquisition may appear on paper, supporters will be encouraged to learn his signing has come at a significantly reduced price. The overall transfer fee is reportedly comprised of a guaranteed payment of £106m, with a further £17m in potential add-ons.
That represents a full £22m reduction on what PSG were originally demanding for their forward earlier this summer. Les Parisiens opened talks with an asking price of £145m but were gradually negotiated down, largely owing to their own transfer dealings elsewhere. It is understood Barcola is having his medical at the club over the weekend.
Luis Enrique has bolstered his attacking options this summer with the arrivals of Mika Godts and Maghnes Akliouche. Combined with the fact that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue already ranked above Barcola in the pecking order, it becomes clearer why PSG have opted to cash in.
It remains a staggering outlay for Liverpool by any measure. Many would argue Barcola has yet to achieve enough in his career to warrant such a substantial investment.
Nevertheless, it won't be long before Reds supporters get the chance to see their exciting new recruit attempting to prove his worth at Anfield. Those same fans will also take comfort in knowing the board is doing everything within its power to keep costs down where possible.
