Sunderland are working in a bid to make multiple additions before the transfer window closes on Tuesday night
Sunderland target Kevin Danso has told Spurs he wants to leave the club.
The Black Cats made a loan bid for the 27-year-old earlier this week, which was rejected. It remains to be seen whether Sunderland will return with another offer for Danso, who was left out of the squad as Spurs fell to a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle United on home turf.
Speaking after the game on Saturday evening, head coach Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that Danso had expressed a desire to leave the club.
Speaking about his absentees from the squad, De Zerbi said: “Richarlison, I don’t know. He said too many times he wants to leave. Danso came to me two days ago and he said wants to leave and Pape Sarr, the same but he suffer a small injury but he is almost ready to train.”
Danso is very well known to Sunderland’s director or football Florent Ghisolfi, who signed him while at RC Lens. Ghisolfi also tried to sign him when at AS Roma, though a deal was not concluded.

Régis Le Bris’s Sunderland transfer message
As well as more defensive cover, Sunderland are also bidding to add more firepower in the final third.
They are in talks with Marseille over a deal for Igor Paixão and have expressed an interest in signing Jack Grealish from Manchester City. Régis Le Bris said on Friday ahead of Fulham’s visit to the Stadium of Light that he remained confident the club would get would they need before Tuesday night’s deadline (11pm).
“I'm focused on the game first of all, but I trust both Flo and Kyril and the recruitment staff,” Le Bris said.
“So we are working hard behind the scenes, we are really well aligned about our targets and what we need to get better as a team. I won't comment on individual positions but I still think that we'll succeed in this transfer window.”
“Good news this week because we renewed three contracts, Romain, Robin and Wilson,” Le Bris added.
“So keep the core of the squad, that was our first pillar and we want to add what we need and the market is still open for that.”
