Hull City are closing in on securing a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt's Jean-Matteo Bahoya as the transfer deadline looms.
As first reported by Fabrizio Romano, it is understood that the Tigers have agreed a deal in principle with Frankfurt for the signing of Bahoya.
The France under-21 international is now in negotiations with City and as he travels over to East Yorkshire, the hope is that they will be able to agree the terms necessary to secure his signature before Tuesday night's deadline.
Bahoya has been linked with a number of Premier league clubs in the past, including Arsenal and Everton, and the deal would be seen as a significant coup for the Tigers, who have moved on from their interest in Lyon's Malick Fofana.
The winger, who is widely recognised as one of the fastest players in European football right now, started his career at French club Angers and scored five goals in 32 appearances for the club before moving on to join Frankfurt in January 2024.
Still only 21, Bahoya has made 77 appearances for Frankfurt in all competitions and that includes eight outings in last seasons Champions League. He has scored seven goals in that time with four coming last season as Frankfurt finished eighth in the Bundesliga during what was a turbulent season with Dino Toppmoller being sacked in January.
Bahoya, who is also eligible to represent Cameroon, has been a youth international for France since being selected to represent the under-18s in 2022. Since then he has worked his way up through the age groups and he now has five caps for the U21s.
The Tigers are finalising a move for Union Berlin forward Ilyas Ansah, while a loan move for Robinio Vaz is also in the works, with City hoping to land the highly rated teenager from AS Roma.
