Atalanta will sell Honest Ahanor to Chelsea for €48m including add-ons, but the Italy international should then be loaned out to Crystal Palace.
The agreement for the sale of the 18-year-old talent was made several days ago, for a package that including various add-ons and performance-related bonuses should reach a total figure of €48m.

However, Chelsea have no room for him in the squad right now, so the plan was always to send him out on loan first.
Ahanor options for loan experience

There were several alternatives for the defender, above all Brighton and Hove Albion within the Premier League.
However, Sky Sport Italia and Fabrizio Romano claim this evening that a decision has been made to hand him over to Crystal Palace instead.

Ahanor is expected to fly out tomorrow for his medical tests, so will get the opportunity to get accustomed to life in London, even if it won’t be at the Chelsea training ground quite yet.
This is set to be the second massive sale Atalanta have made to Chelsea this summer after Marco Palestra, whose fee well over €50m plus add-ons.

Seeing as Crystal Palace already have Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea, it means they will probably need to make that move a purchase instead, to stay within the Premier League rules on two loans from a single club.
