The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as the final 24 hours of the summer transfer window rapidly approach.
Serie A giants Juventus are said to be in ‘active talks’ with Newcastle United over a loan deal for Magpies forward Nick Woltemade as the clock ticks down towards the end of the summer transfer window.
The Germany international experienced mixed fortunes during his first season on Tyneside after completing a club record move to St James Park 12 months ago. After marking his debut with a goal in a home win against Wolverhampton Wanderers just days after arriving from Stuttgart, Woltemade went on to score 11 goals in 52 appearances throughout the campaign - but struggled to find form during the final months of the season.

Woltemade remained as an unused substitute in the opening day draw with Liverpool last weekend - but did come off the bench to provide an assist for Yoane Wissa to score the Magpies second goal in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur. However, talk of a possible loan exit from St James Park before Tuesday’s transfer deadline has ramped up in recent days with Napoli suggested as one possible destination. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has now claimed Juve are ready to join their league rivals in the race for the German forward - and are also keen on a deal for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee as they prepare for life without former Newcastle transfer target Jonathan David.
He posted on X: “Juventus remain in active talks for Nick Woltemade on loan from Newcastle with player keen on move. Joshua Zirkzee also an option being discussed after Fiorentina loan. Juve want a new striker to join with Jonathan David leaving.”
Newcastle are likely to only be willing to allow Woltemade to depart if they can secure another option in the final third and they remain interested in a deal for Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Stuttgart’s Bilal El Khannouss. However, journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed the Magpies are ‘exploring a late move’ for Bayer Leverkusen forward Christian Kofane before Tuesday’s deadline and will face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Aston Villa. The Cameroon international has scored nine goals and provided nine assists in 46 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit over the last year.
