Nick Woltemade is set to leave Newcastle United after a year at the club.
Nick Woltemade is set to leave Newcastle United on deadline day to join Serie A side Juventus.
The German forward will leave on loan with no option or obligation to make the move permanent. It comes after Woltemade struggled for starts and goals at Newcastle in 2026 despite an initially bright start to his time at the club following a club-record £65million move from VfB Stuttgart last summer.
Woltemade scored 11 goals in 51 appearances for Newcastle last season but was an unused substitute in Matthias Jaissle’s first Premier League match as head coach against Liverpool. The 24-year-old came off the bench to grab an assist for Yoane Wissa in Newcastle’s 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday but has been made available for a loan after falling down the pecking order in both the striker and No. 10 positions.

The arrival of Matias Fernandez-Pardo has paved the way for Woltemade’s temporary exit after just a year at St James’ Park. Transfer narrative expert Fabrizio Romano branded the Fernandez-Pardo move to Newcastle with his ‘here we go’ catchphrase before posting an image of the player en route to Tyneside to finalise the £51million move.
Hours later, Romano posted his second Newcastle-related ‘here we go’ of the evening, but this time it was an outgoing. Woltemade’s move to Juventus is set to be finalised on deadline day following an agreement reached between the clubs and player.
Romano wrote: “Juventus reached verbal agreement with Newcastle to sign Nick Woltemade, here we go! Surprise move reported since last night has been agreed as Woltemade will become a Juventus player on Deadline Day. Loan fee worth £3.5m to #NUFC, no option or obligation to buy.”
The move will divide opinion among Newcastle supporters, with many wanting to see Woltemade given more of an opportunity to shine. While others have not been encouraged by the German’s showings on the pitch over the summer and at the back end of last season.
