Aston Villa have completed the signing of Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain for £47 million.
The 18-year-old winger joins Villa on a long-term contract after the club turned their attention to him following their pursuit of Rafael Leao.
Exciting teenager Mbaye fits Villa’s overarching summer transfer strategy of recruiting younger talent with the potential to develop under Unai Emery.
Villa tried to pursue a move for Mbaye in January but were unable to complete a deal before returning for him in this window.
Recruitment chiefs are delighted to welcome Mbaye to Villa, given the intense interest in the youngster from across Europe, including Liverpool.
Mbaye could now make his debut for Villa against Hull City on Saturday, with Emery’s side facing the newly promoted club at the MKM Stadium at 5:30pm, live on Sky Sports.
He won the Champions League with PSG last season and made 29 appearances across all competitions, scoring three Ligue 1 goals and registering two assists.
At international level, Mbaye has earned 15 caps for Senegal and scored in their group-stage defeat to France at the World Cup earlier this summer.
He will now link up with international teammate Nicolas Jackson, who joined Villa from Chelsea in a deal worth £47.5 million plus add-ons.
