Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has completed a loan move to Juventus, with the Italian club holding an option to buy that will become mandatory if certain conditions are met. The deal has been confirmed by Tottenham’s offical twitter account.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the deal is worth around £26 million in total, with Sarr moving to Turin after expressing a desire to leave Tottenham in search of more regular first-team football.
The Senegal international has now brought his five-year spell in north London to an end after making more than 140 appearances for Spurs.

Sarr Loan Deal Includes Conditional Purchase
Juventus will pay around £1.7 million to take Sarr on loan, with a further £24 million purchase clause included in the agreement.
That clause will become mandatory if Juventus qualify for either the Champions League or Europa League and Sarr features in at least 50 per cent of their matches. Tottenham could therefore receive around £26 million in total for the 23-year-old, having signed him from Metz for £16.9 million in 2021.
Sarr initially returned to Metz on loan before establishing himself as a regular first-team player at Tottenham, making 141 appearances across all competitions.
A Search for Regular Football
Sarr’s departure comes after he slipped down the midfield pecking order under Roberto De Zerbi.
Tottenham strengthened their options in the position during the summer, with Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes joining Conor Gallagher, Rodrigo Bentancur, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall as midfield options.
The increased competition left Sarr facing a lesser role in the squad while the Senegal international had also made it clear that regular first-team football was important to him.
He leaves Tottenham having earned 42 caps for Senegal and helped his country win the Africa Cup of Nations in 2022. The move to Juventus now gives Sarr the opportunity to establish himself in Serie A and potentially turn his loan into a permanent transfer.

Sarr’s departure brings a natural conclusion to a spell in which he developed from a promising teenager into an established Premier League and international midfielder.
The move should give him the opportunity he wanted to play more regularly, while Juventus have protected themselves with a structure that allows them to assess him before committing to the full transfer fee.
For Tottenham, the deal also clears space in a midfield that has undergone significant change under De Zerbi. Whether Sarr can make the move permanent will now depend largely on his ability to prove himself in Turin, making the coming season an important one for both the player and his former club.
