The Serie A transfer window shut up shop until the wintertime a few hours before midnight on Tuesday, with some teams having a very active final day of activity and other clubs seeing things be a little more predictable. Juventus were a little bit in the middle, seeing two final players arrive on loan from Premier League clubs, but both of those moves were very much expected and nowhere near something you’d consider out of the blue.
That pushed Juve’s total number of signings this summer to nine new players. Throw in Jérémie Boga’s option to buy being picked up by the previous front office and you get that 10 moves during the summer mercato.
Probably a little than we thought based on the fact that there’s no Champions League football (and income) this season and there’s some very strict Financial Fair Play limitations put on the club over the next couple of years.
Regardless of that, here’s what Juve did during their summer mercato:

Considering how Juventus’ summer mercato started — you know, without much of anything going on thanks to the management change in mid-June and the general existence of the longest World Cup ever played — that is a whole lot of business to actually get done, with most of it coming in the last six weeks or so.
Juventus ended up spending the second-most amount of money of any Serie A club, with their €164.35 million just behind AC Milan’s league-high €165.05 million, according to transfermarkt. Juve’s net spend was the highest in Serie A, with the club only generating €26.5 million from their eight departures this summer, with most of those players heading out on loan with options to buy. (It does of course help that Vlahovic’s massive salary is no longer on the books.)
A busy summer mercato without a doubt. And one in which Juve spent more than a lot of us thought they would to try and give manager Luciano Spalletti the kind of squad that can try and get back into the top four.
