Is Cabal now the most unwanted player at Juventus

Juan Cabal

Juan Cabal was expected to move to Atalanta in the last transfer window, as he has struggled for relevance and to deliver consistent performances for Juventus since joining the club.

The defender has been unlucky to suffer at least one serious injury since joining Juve, but he has also struggled when fit, whether he has started matches or come on as a substitute. His performances have not convinced Luciano Spalletti that he can compete at the required level.

Spalletti has lost faith in Cabal

Spalletti is certain that the defender is not at the level required to compete in his team after giving him several opportunities to impress at the club. Cabal would love to stay and show what he can do, but the failed move to Atalanta could now become a source of frustration for the Colombian.

As reported by Football Italia, Cabal missed out on moving to La Dea after Juventus were confident that a deal could be completed. The proposed transfer would have given him an opportunity to seek regular football elsewhere, but he will instead remain with the Bianconeri.

Cabal could potentially perform well at another club, but the failed move to Atalanta means he is probably the player Juventus wanted to offload but ultimately could not move on before the window closed.

Juventus left with few options

The Bianconeri have other options available, but the injury to Andrea Cambiaso was the reason Spalletti was keen for a new left-back to arrive. The manager simply does not trust Cabal anymore, leaving the Colombian in a difficult position within the squad.

Juventus had wanted to strengthen at left back before the transfer window closed, but they were unable to complete the move they wanted. Cabal will therefore remain available to Spalletti despite the manager’s concerns about his ability to contribute.

The Colombian is now set for a long spell on the bench before another transfer window opens and gives him another opportunity to leave Juventus. Until then, Cabal will have to remain patient and hope that circumstances provide him with another chance to prove himself.
