Nick Woltemade is relishing the chance to reignite his stuttering career on loan at Juventus.
The German enjoyed a stellar start to life at St James’ Park, with four goals in his first five Premier League games. However, Woltemade’s form soon nosedived, with Eddie Howe failing to make a midfield experiment work.
His confidence clearly suffered and, once Matias Fernandez-Pardo agreed to join, a loan move beckoned. Woltemade - Newcastle’s record signing at £64million - is now aiming to get back on track in Italy.

‘I’m happy’ - Nick Woltemade
Speaking to Juve’s website, Woltemade opened up about his “pride” at signing for a European heavyweight. He also believes his Premier League experience can help him in Serie A.
“Of course, I'm really really happy to be here,” Woltemade said. “It's a big club. I'm excited for this new adventure, (to live in) another new country and play at the biggest club in Italy. I’m proud of myself, my family, my agency and all the guys at Juventus who made it happen.
“Last year, I changed to England. I can take a lot with me like physical-wise and also smartness in the game. I'm really happy to be in Italy to play in another top league at a really big club. This is a really nice point for me - I'm just to start.”

Nick Woltemade on playing style
On what he will bring to Juve, Woltemade noted how his technique and intelligence can align at his new club. Part of the reason for his Newcastle exit is the perception that the 24-year-old does not fit Matthias Jaissle’s high-intensity blueprint.
“The most important of my best qualities is my technique and understanding for the game,” Woltemade added. “I'm a smart player and yeah, I can score goals. It's important I can score goals.
“I can help the team to win and, of course, I want to do it. I'm really happy to be in a team like Juventus. A lot of control, a lot of time on the ball and, in these situations, the best things come out of me.”
