Ajibade scores and wins penalty, Echegini assists as PSG thrash Eintracht Frankfurt to qualify for UWCL league phase

Paris Saint-Germain have advanced to the league phase of the UEFA Women's Champions League (UWCL) following a 5-1 demolition of Eintracht Frankfurt at the Campus on Wednesday.

Rasheedat Ajibade and Jennifer Echegini were instrumental in the playoff second leg victory, with the Super Falcons captain coming off the bench to find the net in the second half of extra time, while Echegini provided an assist.

Echegini had an early opportunity to break the deadlock in the 15th minute but saw her effort saved by Frankfurt goalkeeper Lina Altenburg.

Merveille Kanjinga opened the scoring in the 36th minute, but her effort was cancelled out by Rebecka Blomqvist in the 76th minute to send the tie into extra time.

In the 95th minute, Kanjinga made the most of Echegini's well-delivered freekick into the box, finishing calmly to restore PSG’s lead.

The Red and Blues extended their advantage in the 105th minute when Sakina Karchaoui made a superb run in behind the defence before calmly finishing to make it 3-1.

Karchaoui put the result beyond doubt nine minutes later, confidently converting a penalty won by Ajibade.

Super Falcons captain Ajibade completed the rout in the 120th minute to cap a commanding 5-1 victory.
