Goncalo Ramos has a chance to make his first big statement in an AC Milan shirt on Sunday night in the match against Juventus.

The new No.9 has already demonstrated some of his skills, primarily his ability to react to mistakes in front of goal against Venezia before scoring the opening goal. This is no small skill, reminiscent of one of the hallmarks of Milan’s last great pure number nine, Olivier Giroud.
It was the French striker who scored the last decisive goal that allowed the Rossoneri to win away to Juventus, a goal that dates back to 28 May 2023, the 20th anniversary of the Champions League final between the two teams in Manchester.
On that occasion, Giroud scored a stunning header, perfectly meeting Davide Calabria’s cross from the right. From then on, Milan have not won at Juve, recording two 0-0 draws and a 2-0 defeat on January 18 of last year.
Ruben Amorim knows full well what a big challenge like the one that is about to arrive represents, even on matchday three. He will need his centre-forward to convert the service he gets, given chances might be few and far between.

A good first 180 minutes
Ramos, in his first 180 minutes as a starter for Milan in the league, displayed two distinct performances. Against Torino he lacked much serve and duelled one-on-one with Ismajili, freeing space for others. A week ago he not only had several chances, and finally took one.
Much of Gonçalo Ramos’s fortunes (who is expected to become the primary penalty taker) will depend on the combination Amorim consistently chooses to deploy behind him, in the attacking midfielder roles.
For now, we’ve seen the starting pairing of Alphadjo Cisse and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but Adrien Rabiot could be seen in those positions as early as Sunday, as he did in the second half against Torino.
Christian Pulisic, Alexis Saelemaekers and Omari Hutchinson (who arrived precisely because he plays inverted on the right) are all waiting in the wings. Gonçalo is waiting too, and remains the undisputed focal point of the Rossoneri’s attack.
