Diego Moreira was AC Milan’s last ‘big’ signing of the mercato, but he hasn’t been received as the two that came before him, it’s fair to say.
For Goncalo Ramos and Mario Gila, their additions were no brainers, they solved issues instantly. They solved known issues, too. With Moreira, though, the situation is different. Signing another wing-back didn’t seem to be a priority, but priority money was spent.

He’s been available for both Serie A games, too, but he’s not been used yet. So, this weekend provides a chance for him to quieten the noise that is evidently growing.
Moreira’s chance
Firstly, Calciomercato.com have written a piece about Moreira with the headline ‘Over €50 million for a Chukwueze duplicate?’. Several supporters have asked the question, especially since Ruben Amorim said he’d be a competitor for the Nigerian wing-back, rather than a starter.
Rather than being a sure-fire signing like Goncalo Ramos or Mario Gila, it’s a gamble and one that the outlet suggests is too big for a club in Serie A. After all, he’s an expensive back-up, if that’s all he is to be.
To solidify this, the report has questioned why that money wasn’t spent elsewhere, on a central defender or backup striker, for example. It certainly could’ve been spent elsewhere, and that’s on the minds of many fans.
MilanNews have looked at the situation differently, though. Instead, their take is that the Belgian’s time may be now. Juventus leave gaps in transition and the wing-back could be best suited to capitalise on this.
He alone can give the Diavolo the ‘vertical thrust’, which could be crucial on Sunday night, for a number of reasons.
It’s an issue, then, that isn’t going to be silenced on Sunday, but it could certainly be made louder. It’s generally a game where the Rossoneri will have to show up and whilst Moreira isn’t feeling the pressure, it’s certainly there…
