Zambrotta interview Gazzetta
Gianluca Zambrotta has shared his thoughts on tomorrow’s clash between AC Milan and Juventus, seeing as he played for both teams back in the day.
Zambrotta spent the final years of playing at the highest level with Milan, joining them in 2008 before waving goodbye in 2012. While he initially had a starting role, he became better known as a squad player, including during the 2010-11 Scudetto season.

His prime, as such, took place during his years at Juventus where he made an impressive 297 appearances. Of course, knowing what it’s like to play for both teams, he’s always a perfect option to interview once the fixture rolls around.
Sure enough, Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) were the ones to interview him this time, asking about Milan’s setup under Amorim and the chances of Juventus this season. He also urged the teams to avoid yet another 0-0, after both games ended with that scoreline in 2025-26.
On the game preparation…
“They have had the time they need, and that’s crucial, because both teams have their first real match coming up: they haven’t faced top teams yet.”
They both have perfect records so far. What would a win mean for either side?
“Winning will change a lot in terms of mentality, motivation, and enthusiasm. It will become clear where they stand. Juventus are playing at home and will therefore have a small advantage, but I think Milan have been better.
“In the big games, everything changes: motivation, a full stadium, a week where everyone is talking about this game. When these games come around, it’s not the condition that matters, but the mentality, and motivation comes automatically.”
Do you approve of Ruben Amorim’s changes?
“I liked the change in mentality he’s already managed to bring. He’s revolutionised the team with a different approach than Allegri: he seeks higher pressure, creates much more, and these are important steps.

“In the first two games, the substitutions also made the difference, because Rabiot and Saelemaekers brought the goals: bringing freshness and beating the man to create superiority is always important.”
And the mercato?
“They have found a strong defender with character in Gila, and even though he missed a few chances, I liked the work done by Goncalo Ramos: you also have to be in a position to create scoring opportunities, and then hopefully he’ll convert more.
“I like this AC Milan side, they have started very well and have a lot of room for improvement: Pulisic is out, and Rabiot wasn’t yet at his peak condition…”
Between the purchase price and the desire for revenge, is all the pressure on Randal Kolo Muani and Ramos?
“Anyone who joins Juventus, Milan, or Inter is already under pressure before they arrive, regardless of their position. The managers know this: if they buy players with little character, they’re making a mistake, especially if they pay €50, €60, or €70 million for them.
“That said, Milan only have two pure strikers, Ramos and Camarda, and in my opinion they should have bought one more. They needed the right numbers for the three competitions, not so much in terms of quality.
“Juventus are numerically better prepared, but I would have done anything to please Vlahovic; I’ve always seen him as a true number nine. If he wanted to leave as a free agent, that’s another matter entirely, I don’t know.”
Who do you see on the cover for Juventus-Milan?
“I really like Conceiçao: he’s physically fit, he’s the attacking weapon to create superiority and could be decisive. At Milan, I’m curious about Moreira as he’s promising, but on the cover I see Rabiot, who is in good form and is also the former player on duty.”
Can fans hope to avoid another 0-0 draw?
“I’m hoping for a good match. Milan are proactive and will create plenty. Juventus are improving and are playing at home. Obviously, playing well without winning is pointless, but yes, let’s avoid a 0-0 draw!”
