AC Milan were held to a 1-1 draw as Juventus scored a late equaliser at Allianz Stadium. Several players failed to impress and below are the ratings for the Rossoneri.
After two wins to start the season, Ruben Amorim’s side headed into this big test with a lot of confidence. However, that didn’t exactly show on the pitch as they struggled to create chances, rescued by a moment of brilliance from Alphadjo Cisse. In the end, it wasn’t enough for three points.

Short Version
🥇 De Winter (7.5 – MOTM): Say what you want about the free-kick given against him, which led to the goal, but I thought he was phenomenal throughout the game. Last-ditch clearances, many good tackles, great positioning, and confident passing. I said before that this was a big chance for him and he certainly took it.
👎 Pavlovic (5): I praised him for the first two games, but tonight, he completely malfunctioned as far as I’m concerned. He was way too eager in his defending, stepping up in the wrong moments (getting beaten easily) and finding himself in strange backtracking positions. The passing wasn’t good enough either.
👔 Amorim (5.5): He may have got the substitutions right, but Milan didn’t play well tonight. They struggled to make things happen in the final third and there never seemed to be a solution to this, even after the subs. The goal, after all, came after a counter-attack. There is work to do.
Starting XI
Maignan (6.5): He made a couple of good saves on Conceicao, especially the second one, and also stopped a few more efforts. The goal was unsavable, so I won’t hold that against him for the ratings.
Gila (6): A little bit too rash, it has to be said, committing several fouls that could have been avoided. There seems to be some fatigue there, and I don’t think he was 100% in possession either. There were enough good moments (such as the shoulder-to-shoulder on Kolo Muani) to give him a 6.
De Winter (7.5 – MOTM): Say what you want about the free-kick given against him, which led to the goal, but I thought he was phenomenal throughout the game. Last-ditch clearances, many good tackles, great positioning, and confident passing. I said before that this was a big chance for him and he certainly took it.
Pavlovic (5): I praised him for the first two games, but tonight, he completely malfunctioned as far as I’m concerned. He was way too eager in his defending, stepping up in the wrong moments (getting beaten easily) and finding himself in strange backtracking positions. The passing wasn’t good enough either.
Moreira (5): As much as we all wanted to see a great debut, his performance was far from it. The touch just wasn’t there and that prevented him from even trying his hand at the 1v1s. Okay, he had a few, but then the end product was poor. I know that it’s his first game and all, but that was not good.
Musah (5.5): Two things save his rating here, if you can even consider a 5.5 as a saved rating. There was one really good run which showcased all of his great qualities, and then a crucial header towards the end to clear a great cross. That said, he was poor in possession overall, especially with his passing.
Modric (6.5): While it perhaps didn’t lead to a plethora of chances this game, he definitely did his job with a decent tempo in his passing and even some runs forward to try to break the lines.

Estupinan (5.5): He came very close to a 6 here, as I think he often stepped up in the right moments to win back the ball, both with his head and his feet. However, that header towards the end straight into the path of the Juve attackers in the box perhaps should have been penalised.
Rabiot (6): Yes, Milan didn’t create loads with him as one of the attacking midfielders, but if you ask me he was one of the few players who actually tried to make something happen. He was constantly available and ran a lot in both phases of the game.
Saelemaekers (5): After the Venezia display, we all expected a lot more from him. It was way too sloppy, losing the ball several times, and he didn’t have much success with creativity in the final third either.
Ramos (5.5): You could make a case for a 6 here, but I don’t think he involved himself enough, and the combinations weren’t successful when he did get on the ball. Milan can do a lot better in terms of using him in the right way, but he ran a lot and should have made more happen.
Substitutes
Chukwueze (6.5): He has been in good form so far this season and that certainly continued tonight. He was the one who set up the goal for Cisse, with a nice cross towards the back post.
Cisse (7.5): Two goals in his first three games, who would have thought?! There was quite a lot to do after receiving the ball from Chukwueze too, cutting inside with his right and firing a lovely effort past the goalkeeper. Really encouraging stuff.

Loftus-Cheek (5.5): Even if he helped in the build-up to the goal, the marking was simply too poor on the equaliser. Some have suggested that De Winter was to blame, but he was actually marking Bremer. It was a tough cross to defend overall, to be fair, but it ended up being fatal.
Jashari (N/A): I didn’t see enough to give him a rating.
Terracciano (N/A): I didn’t see enough to give him a rating.
The manager
Amorim (5.5): He may have got the substitutions right, but Milan didn’t play well tonight. They struggled to make things happen in the final third and there never seemed to be a solution to this, even after the subs. The goal, after all, came after a counter-attack. There is work to do.
