AC Milan were just minutes away from continuing their perfect start to the season, but conceded late on against Juventus in a 1-1 draw.

Draws are no novelty in this fixture and it was certainly not a surprise to see the two sides go in level without a goal being scored in the first half. However, Alphadjo Cisse came off the bench to open the scoring in the 68th minute, before Federico Gatti’s header levelled it in added time.

By Ruben Amorim’s admission a tie was what Juve had deserved as Milan did not put in their best performance. This morning’s newspapers in Italy have reacted to the game.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Not enough. Gatti responds to Cisse’s goal in the 92nd minute. Juve-Milan only draws.”

Tuttosport: “More grinta than goals. Juve, thank Gatti. The attack flops again: Cissé gives #ACMilan false hope, then comes the 92nd-minute header.

“After Bremer at Frosinone, another defender (one who was expected to leave) bails Spalletti out. Before that, there was a shot off the post by Conceiçao and fruitless attacks. Kolo struggles again; Ramos disappoints. Woltemade makes a spirited debut.”

QS: “Cissé raises hopes, then it’s Gatti time. Milan pull ahead, Juve equalise in the 92nd minute: both giants lose the top spot.”
