Manchester United are still yet to be reinforced by Amad Diallo and Carlos Baleba in 2026/27.
Michael Carrick has been without Amad Diallo and £65m new signing Carlos Baleba this season.
Amad was impressive in pre-season but suffered a muscle injury just before the start of the 2026/27 season against Hull City.
Baleba suffered an ankle injury in pre-season with Brighton, but United still pushed ahead with a deal to sign the 22-year-old midfielder. Carrick can look forward to having them both available soon.

When Amad Diallo and Carlos Baleba will be fit
Michael Carrick’s last update on Amad’s fitness was before the 5-2 win vs Ipswich, when he said the winger would be out for “a little bit longer”.
Meanwhile, Baleba was expected to miss 2-3 weeks with his injury. United have a hectic fixture list on the horizon, and now The Standard have provided a fresh update.
The first of United’s eight Champions League matches in the group phase arrives on Thursday against Sabah at Old Trafford, and they claim that match comes just too early for Amad.
However, Amad is “pushing” to be a part of United’s squad for the Manchester derby next Sunday afternoon.
As for Baleba, they claim his expected return date is now October 10 when United face Tottenham in the Premier League.
Baleba could return before the international break, but United are not expected to rush the new midfield signing into action.

Matthijs de Ligt’s injury return is imminent
Another returning star is Matthijs de Ligt, who has not played a competitive match since November as he recovers from his back injury.
De Ligt is back in training with United and is inching closer to a return to first-team action.

United’s defence has been criticised in the opening three matches of the season, with Carrick’s side conceding two goals in every game so far.
So De Ligt’s return will be welcomed with open arms. The Dutch defender is expected to make his return this month, and he could even be in the squad to face Sabah.
