Tim Sherwood has claimed that Benjamin Sesko "isn't the answer" for Manchester United as he continues to be overlooked by Michael Carrick.
The Slovenian frontman came off the bench to score, what he thought was a winner at Everton on Sunday, but his 88th minute strike was only good enough for a point.
Sesko has come off the bench in each of United's opening three games despite being the only genuine No 9 at the club, bar Joshua Zirkzee, who almost left in the summer. At Everton, Matheus Cunha led the line from the start, even though the Brazilian is not naturally and out and out striker, yet continues to get the nod ahead of Sesko.
Even last season, when the former RB Leipzig man continued to score winning goals from the bench, he was only afforded a starting role on occasion. Sherwood maintains that if Sesko was truly world class, he would be starting games but his current role suggests there are doubts.

To get it, it's a quick and easy one-two:
He said on Sky Sports: "Where do you find that striker? Everyone is looking for it, Arsenal are looking for it. Sesko isn’t the answer because no one wants to play him. He comes on, he’s done alright, he’s come on and scored a few goals off the bench.
"But if he was top drawer, do you think Michael Carrick would be playing him? Of course he would. He wouldn’t be wanting to play someone else out of position."
Sesko has been recovering from a shin injury, which he was nursing during the summer, and that may well have impacted his standing within the squad across the opening weeks.

Carrick though has been vocal about the fact Sesko, still only 23, is ultimately maturing as a player and needs to further adapt to what is being asked of him.
The United boss said: "He’s made big strides last season and he’s still young, he’s still kind of adapting to a point and learning and developing here.
"So there’s loads more to come from Ben. So just being patient with him really and looking after him as well. And letting him grow into the season. Really happy with how he’s come back, so looking forward to seeing him on the pitch a little bit more."
