That feeling is perhaps even stronger for Cameroon after the disappointment of missing out on qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
Manchester United now have two prominent Cameroon internationals within Michael Carrick’s squad.

Bryan Mbeumo has officially been named in Cameroon’s 26-man squad for the September and October international window.
The Cameroon national team confirmed the selection on their official Instagram account.
Cameroon are scheduled to face Comoros on September 24 before taking on Congo on September 29, with a friendly against Ivory Coast following on October 3.
They previously played Ivory Coast last December – a match which saw Amad Diallo score with a beautiful finish.
Mbeumo arrives for international duty in strong individual form.
The United attacker has scored in his last two Premier League appearances.
His latest came during the dramatic 2-2 draw against Everton, where he produced a superb finish shortly after half-time.
United ultimately surrendered the victory late on.
However, Mbeumo’s sharp start has been one of the more encouraging features of the opening weeks.
He will now look to carry that form onto the international stage as Cameroon begin another important run of fixtures.
